Wilson BLX Pro team

With its 103 square-inch headsize and light 10.6-ounce strung weight, the Pro Team FX BLX offers a forgiving and easy to manage feel. There's plenty of liveliness from the stringbed to help with both depth and pace. The open 16x19 string pattern offers some nice bite to keep all the power in check. At net this racquet feels very maneuverable with a crisp and clean response. Wilson has included their Quad Shaft construction (each side of the shaft features an opening) for a more stable feel. On court hitting has revealed the racquet to feel very solid considering its light strung weight. On serve there plenty of power to be had. The light and fast feel allows easy access to faster swing speeds for added pace and spin making this a solid choice for the improving through intermediate level player.

Wilson BLX Six-One 95

The midplus sized player's racquet of the BLX line, the Six.One 95 BLX continued the tradition of the 6.1 Classic. Offering plenty of control and a traditional head light balance, this racquet excels from all areas of the court. The Six-One 95 BLX features Wilson's Basalt construction which is designed to offer more feel. Ideally suited to advanced players seeking control from a traditionally balanced racquet, this one blends stability with maneuverability. There is ample feel on touch shots as well as when looking to roll the ball with spin on lobs and angles. The feel at net is solid and controlled. Using the mass of the racquet our TW testers found it easy to punch volleys with depth and authority. On serve, this one offers good access to spin and pace. Best suited to 4.5+ NTRP level players.

Wilson BLX Six-One Tour 90

Roger Federer's Six.One Tour gets updated with Wilson's BLX technology. Wilson has woven Basalt fibers in the construction of the racquet for what it calls "the most advanced composites in the industry." On court the BLX version of the Six.One Tour picks up where the KFactor version left off. With a very similar spec, the differences between the two are subtle. Our TW playtesters found the power level and control pretty much identical to the KFactor version with the main difference coming in feel. With Basalt in the construction, the BLX Six.One Tour is designed to resist vibration and offer a cleaner feel. Compared to the KFactor version, the Six.One Tour BLX feels slightly more dampened. As with previous versions, the racquet is incredibly solid from all areas of the court. The racquet's mass offers excellent plow through on everything from groundstrokes to serves. At net, there is a high level of control thanks to the solid response and solid bite from the stringbed. All in all an excellent choice for the advanced 5.0+ level player seeking the ultimate in control.

Babolat Pure Drive GT

Offering a more maneuverable feel than the Plus version, the Pure Drive Roddick GT is slightly more forgiving. A better match for intermediate players as it is easier to whip around, this one still offers all the performance needed to suit tour level players. Updated with GT technology, our TW playtest crew found this racquet to offer a noticeably more solid feel thanks to the use of graphite/tungsten in its construction. From all areas of the court, this racquet offers a cutting response, especially when looking to unload on a big forehand. The maneuverable feel, powerful beam and open string pattern combines to offer excellent access to both pace and spin. Players who like to take a good rip at the ball will find this one a willing partner. When stepping inside the court, this racquet responds with pinpoint accuracy and a clean feel allowing players to finish the point with authority. At net the racquet feels rock solid with a more comfortable feel compared to its predecessor. A must demo for the 4.5+ level player looking to maximize the power and spin potential of their game.

Babolat Aero Pro Drive GT

The racquet choice of Rafael Nadal, the AeroPro Drive GT is the latest update in Babolat's AeroPro Drive line. Using a hybrid material consisting of Graphite and Tungsten, this racquet offers improved control with a more solid feel. Much like the previous version, our testers enjoyed the versatility of this stick. The weight allows for excellent mobility, while maintaining good stability, keeping balls on their intended paths. The Aero shaft design helps get the racquet cut through the air quicker, creating more racquet head speed. This, coupled with an open string pattern offers tremendous access to spin. This is not only prevalent on groundstrokes, but with serving as well. At net, the maneuverability and solid sweetspot offer nice punch and stability. This versatile racquet is great from all areas of the court. An excellent choice for the 3.5+ level player.

Wilson BLX Tidal Wave

With the Tidal Wave BLX, intermediate players will find all-around performance. Players will find a comfortable response from this lightweight option, which comes in just under 10 ounces strung. The Tidal Wave features BLX technology, which incorporates fibers of basalt, a natural volcanic rock, into the Karophite Black. According to Wilson, the result is a significant reduction in vibrations in the racquet. Our TW testers found the Tidal Wave BLX to have a mobile feel, which resulted in easy access to spin and power from the 105 sq in headsize. The racquet was easy to whip through the hitting zone, making attacking mid-court balls a pleasure. The clean, crisp response allowed the TW testers to hit with precision from all areas of the court. The racquet's low strung weight leaves plenty of room for stronger players who want to add some mass for bigger hitting. All in all, the Tidal Wave BLX is a good option for intermediate players looking for value and a blend of controllable power and precision.
